Caitlyn (@CaitlynGribbin) grew up in country Queensland, which instilled in her a sense of adventure and curiousness. Caitlyn joined the ABC in 2009 and was posted to Mount Isa, Bundaberg and Brisbane reporting for ABC Rural. Caitlyn moved to Perth in 2013 to report for the flagship programs AM, The World Today and PM. Caitlyn is currently a journalist for ABC News’ National Reporting Team, which produces original stories of the highest quality. In 2013, Caitlyn won a Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year Award (radio). She also won two Queensland media awards at the 2013 Clarions.

“In her work, Caitlyn Gribbin shows a level of maturity, technical ability and empathy with her subjects far beyond her years. Her Kununurra Midnight Prowlers piece, in particular, highlighted her awareness of the radio medium though capturing natural sound and using it to take listeners with her onto the night time streets of the town. All her interviews display great sensitivity and a strong rapport with interviewees. Her Kununurra story not only had a direct impact on that town, but highlighted broader youth issues in remote towns and Indigenous communities.”
