Rohan developed a passion for story telling during his time working as an advertising photographer at the Canberra Times in 2010-11. Pursuing this interest he began working as a photojournalist at the newspaper in 2012. He has since covered wide-ranging stories from intimate personal journeys to national political issues. Rohan’s images have been published both nationally and internationally as well as recently being recognised in the National Photographic Portrait Prize, HeadOn portrait prize and SMH Photos1440 exhibition.
Judges’ comments:
“The lighting, picture composition, camera movement, sound and editing on the transgender story were all excellent. In ‘Cage Fighter’ the slideshow combined with the music, thought track and natural audio helped to tell the story and provide a further level of emphasis, detail and intimacy with the subject matter.”
